PREMIERE: Watch Marc Ford And The Neptune Blues Club Jam In The Van

first_imgMarc Ford has become one of our scene’s preeminent guitarists, building a name for himself after joining The Black Crowes in the early 90’s. Since then, Ford has continued to build a reputation for himself as a talented musician with a fruitful career both as a solo artist following the 2002 release of It’s About Time and in the number of bands and side projects he has helped shape. Across his long career, in addition to his tenure with The Black Crowes, Ford has worked with Widespread Panic, Gov’t Mule, Federale, Booker T. Jones, Ivan Neville, and more. Most recently, The Neptune Blues Club—consisting of Ford, Mike Malone (vocals, harp, keys), John Bazz (bass), and Phil Jones (drums)—released The Vulture in October of last year. Front and center for this project are Ford’s hypnotic guitar stylings, which perfectly meld with the soulful blues numbers the group expertly tackles.Marc Ford Shows Off His Americana Credentials With This Set Of Songs From His Album “The Vulture”[Listen]In promotion of Marc Ford and The Neptune Blues Club’s latest studio endeavor, The Vulture (available on iTunes or Spotify), Ford hit up the “world’s first solar powered music discovery vehicle” for the latest live installment of Jam In The Van. The segment was shot on April 27th on their compound in Los Angeles, and during their performance in the intimate space, the group moves through three numbers off The Vulture—“Old Lady Sunrise,” “Ghetto Is Everywhere,” and “Shalimar Dreams.” Across the three songs, viewers get a full sense of Ford and The Neptune Blues Club’s range and versatility, with the group switching between a more laidback and gritty tone for “Ghetto Is Everywhere,” a twangy, Southern vintage sound for “Old Lady Sunrise,” and grinding old-school rock-n-roll for “Shalimar Dreams.” You can listen to the Live For Live Music premiere of these Jam In The Van renditions below, ahead of the videos’ official release tomorrow. Marc Ford and The Neptune Blues Club are currently on a thirty-date tour across Europe. Fans stateside are in luck, however, as Ford will embark on an extensive summer tour with The Magpie Salute—a group led by fellow Black Crowes’ bandmates Rich Robinson along with Sven Pipen, Joe Magistro, Nico Bereciartua, John Hogg, Charity White, Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen—once he returns from his sojourn across the pond. You can check out the dates for The Magpie Salute’s American summer tour below.
