Mexico witnesses 32 million tourists in 2015

The tourism sector, that accounts for 8.5% of the country’s GDP, is growing faster than the economy as a whole, said Tourism Secretary Enrique de la Madrid.The number of international visitors has increased by 37% since the start of President Enrique Pena Nieto’s administration in December 2012. International visitors last year had chosen Mexico City, Cancun, and Acapulco as the top destinations. The arrivals were boosted by special events such as the Mexico Grand Prix, which brought 366,174 spectators to the capital. The expansion has resulted in the creation of 800,000 direct jobs and another 1.2 million indirect jobs over the last 10 years.last_img
