Powered by Firework The act of ‘Mankad’ is a highly controversial topic in the cricketing fandom, and the fan base has split opinion on its legitimacy. After a recent mankading incident seen in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, cricketer James Anderson took it to social media against the law. Since then, mankading of a batsman have received mixed responses from the fan base, but Ravichandran Ashwin has been unapologetic on its usage.Recently, Pakistani under 19 batsman Mohammad Huraira was mankaded by Afghan bowler Noor Ahmad in the U19 world cup quarterfinal match between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A clip of the incident was uploaded on Twitter by the official handle of The Cricketer magazine on 31st January, asking for public opinion on the law with the caption: “Where do you stand on the Mankad at the Under-19 World Cup?” Check it out below-Advertisement As the incident became a hot topic for discussion with mixed responses from the supporters and players, English cricketer James Anderson gave his two cents about it. Yesterday on his official Twitter handle, the veteran pacer retweeted The Cricketer’s post, favouring the removal of the law. The 37 year old made an appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC) citing his opinion: “Can we sort out (remove) this law please  @ICC #MCC??”However, the post did not go unseen by Ashwin, and he came up with a savage response to Anderson’s claim. The 33 year old replied: “Law removal might need some deliberation!! A Shredder might do the trick for now 😂😂🤩“Ashwin was the first bowler to mankad a batsman in IPL, and was on the pedestal for ruining ‘the spirit of the game.’ Back in March 2019, the Kings XI Punjab skipper mankaded Rajasthan Royals captain and Anderson’s compatriot Jos Buttler.Back in December 2019, the bowler openly stated that he was ready to do it again. In Twitter blogging session with fans, Ashwin replied to one fan’s query on the possibility of mankading batsmen in the 2020 IPL season, to which he replied that he will do it on “Anyone that goes out of the crease.”Also read-Why IPL team Rajasthan Royals want to move away from their state Advertisementlast_img
